In a historic moment for Pakistani football, the national team clinched their inaugural victory in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, triumphing over Cambodia with a 1-0 scoreline in Islamabad. 

The hero of the match was none other than Harun Hamid, who secured the crucial winning goal in the 67th minute.

The first leg of the contest concluded in a goalless draw in Cambodia, and the absence of star forward Otis Khan, who was declared ineligible by FIFA, presented a formidable challenge for Pakistan. 

Despite possessing a Pakistani passport, Khan’s participation in the qualifiers encountered clearance issues. 

He had previously debuted for the national team, affirming his eligibility based on his paternal grandfather’s heritage, who had origins in India and later relocated to Pakistan following the 1947 partition.
